Future Girls Soccer

COACH APPRENTICSHIP PROGRAM

Mission

To develop female soccer coaches not only for Future Girls programs, but to increase the amount of female coaches in general to increase the visiblity of female soccer coaches on the field, allowing female players to experience more female leadership and aspire to a future where they take on the role of coach and role model themselves.

Objective

To provide opportunities for former and present female soccer players to gain education, leadership skills and hands-on coaching guidance in the coaching profession.

To provide all Future Girls Players (recreational and competitive) with positive female role models and mentors as they develop their soccer and life skills within the Future Girls programs.

Program

The program will be made up of 3 components:
I. OSA Required Courses: Respect in Soccer for Administrative Leaders
  • Making Ethical Decisions
  • Learn to Train
  • Soccer for Life
II. Written Portion + Assessment: Creation of sessions directly relating to the curriculum of all Future Girls programs assessed with verbal and written feedback by the FGS lead of Coaching Development
III. Practical Portion+ Assessment: The execution of the written plans at each of the Future Girls programs assessed with verbal and written feedback by the FGS lead of Coaching Development

Qualifications

  • 14+ years
  • Soccer player playing at the top level of present age division or prior relevant history
  • Leads by example and presence
  • Role model ‘on and off’ the field
  • Commitment to completing all 3 FGS Curriculum components

Timing

Apprentice Coaches must complete all OSA requirements within the first 18 months of the program with the entire completion not exceeding 24 months. Course expenses, on-field hours and coaching uniforms will be covered by Future Girls Soccer.
